Therapeutic Modalities for trauma, anxiety & depression

Emotionally Focused
Therapy
(EFT)

Emotionally Focused Therapy is a science based approach to couples therapy that focuses on attachment (personalities and close relationships). EFT highlights emotion and emotion regulation.

Emotionally Focused Therapy is for couples of all cultures and backgrounds who seek a lifetime of love. Not only does it treat couple related issues but it also addresses anxiety, depression, and trauma.

Please note that couples therapy using EFT is not for couples in domestically abusive relationships, deep addictions, long-term affairs, or activities that threaten the couples ability to positively engage. Individual therapy is best recommended in those situations.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a state of active and open attention to the present. Mindfulness assists in increasing concentration and attention span. It reduces stress, boosts memory and assists in managing anxiety, depression and other emotions. It helps regulate the body, increase connection to others, and cultivates compassion.

Brainspotting (BSP)

Brainspotting is a trauma treatment that assists with accessing the brain stem using fixed eye positions. By accessing the brain stem individuals can process and release the neurophysiological symptoms of trauma. The four main components of Brainspotting are mindfulness, neurocognitive, somatic, and relational. Together these components can assist with trauma treatment.

Trauma Resiliency
Model (TRM)

Trauma Resiliency Model is a somatic (body focused) approach that assists individuals in understanding the biology of their trauma symptoms. TRM provides balance in mind, body, and spirit. TRM teaches the resources required to rewire the brain from traumatic reactions.

Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
(TFCBT)

Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a trauma treatment approach that focuses on children, adolescents and parents. TFCBT is a structured short-term therapy that improves trauma symptoms in children, while including the caregiver. TFCBT provides psychoeducation on trauma, information on cognitive distortions, narrative therapy, and provides caregivers with the parenting skills to provide long-term support to their children.

Interpersonal Psychotherapy

Interpersonal Psychotherapy has four main goals: to allow individuals a deeper understanding of their relationships and support system, to explore interpersonal problems, to identify communication styles that directly impact interpersonal problems, and to identify specific problems areas in one’s life.

Structural Family Therapy

Structural Family Therapy is based on systems theory where the main goal of therapy is structural change. It assists in restructuring the family dynamic and focuses on the interactions between family members, as a way to resolve relational challenges. The goal is to improve communication between family members and encourage adjustment in the way the family is functionally structured.

Infant-Parent Mental Health

Infant-Parent Mental Health works with parents/caregivers and infants 0-5 to highlight relational strengths as a way to increase connection and communication in this core relationship. Some of the support in this area includes guidance of improvements in feeding, attachment, and newborn behavior observations. Expecting parents, first time parents, long term parents, or couples who are in the decision making stage of expanding their family are welcome to explore and increase their awareness of the language of infants.
